FALKLANDS: DUMNBARTON CASTLE SAYS HELLO
By J. Brock (FINN)
On what could be her last deployment in the South Atlantic before decommissioning, the HMS DUMBARTON CASTLE has arrived in Stanley. She slipped through the narrows at 0900 sharp on Friday, 08 October 2004. HMS DUMBARTON CASTLE replaces HMS LEEDS CASTLE as the permanent Falkland Islands Patrol vessel. One of the first duties for the ship’s Commanding Officer, LCDR John Garrett, was to call on H. E. the Governor Mr. Howard Pearce at Government House.
Meanwhile, members of the ships’ company will renew its acquaintance with Stanley and meet old friends. HMS DUMBARTON CASTLE sails on her first patrol on Monday, 11 October 2004.
