All Set For the 2004 Falkland Craft Fair

ALL SET FOR THE ANNUAL FALKLAND CRAFT FAIR

The 2004 Annual Falkland Craft Fair will take place in the Community School on Saturday and Sunday, 11 & 12 September 2004.  There are thirteen categories in the competition as well as one for display only.  These include: Homespun Wool, Knitting, Weaving, Rug-making and Basketwork, Sewing and Crochet, Embroidery, Tapestry and Cross-Stitch, Soft Toy Making, Horn-work, Gear-making, Leatherwork and Skins, Woodwork and Metalwork, Pottery, Jewellery and Sculpture, Model-making, Art (any medium), Photography and Any Other Handicraft Item.

 

Items entered in the competition must have been crafted in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and/or British Antarctic Territory and they must not have been shown in the Craft Fair before.  Participants may enter as many times as they like but each exhibit must be labelled with the section and class in which it is entered.  The exhibitor’s name should be on the reverse of the label.  Entries in the Photography and Art sections may be mounted on card or in frames.

 

Sponsors for the various categories include Falkland Landholdings Corporation, Falkland Wool Centre, Reflections, Kelper Stores Ltd., Lifestyles Limited, Falkland Islands Development Corporation, Beauchene Trading Company Ltd., Falkland Islands Company Ltd., The Pink Shop and Seafish Chandlery.  Businesses donating prizes include: Cable & Wireless Plc., Falkland Islands Development Corporation, Falkland Islands Company Ltd., and Standard Chartered Bank.

 

Entries should be taken to the Community School between 1500 and 1800 on Friday, 10 September 2004.  The show will be open to the public on Saturday, 11 September from 1400 to 1700 and Sunday, 12 September from 1400 to 1600.  Enquiries should be made to Barbara Curtis (21082), Carol Cant (21571), Natalie Smith (21021), Dennis Bolt (22055), Linda McRae (22072), Theresa Land (21235) or Patrick Berntsen (21656).
