WOOL REPORT: for the week ending Friday 25th June 2004
Auctions
The Australian market’s Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) gained five cents on Wednesday and increased a further cent on Thursday. The EMI thus closed the week up six cents (+0.7%) at 827 A cents. “Of the 34,483 bales offered in the northern and southern regions, 92% changed hands. Fewer than 1000 bales were withdrawn. Re-offered wool accounted for 23% of the total put forward.” WRWMR
In the last New Zealand auctions of the 2003/2004 season, the Fine Indicator was not quoted. The Medium Indicator was quoted up five cents at 561 NZ cents, the Strong Indicator was down seven cents at 430 NZ cents whilst the Lamb Indicator lost a cent to close at 426 NZ cents. 10% was unsold.
There were neither South African nor British auctions.
Currencies
The Australian dollar was trading at about four cents stronger at A$2.62/£ for much of the mid-week, which had the effect of helping all gains made in Australia when converted to sterling. The New Zealand dollar was unchanged on the week at 2.90 NZ cents/£.
FWG Agency
We had another good spread of speciality interest and enquiry. Additional supplies of wool would be welcomed by our customers.
Core test results from the Marianne Danica are being received.

Robert
