PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, 11 May 2004
CORRECTION
There is an error in the Press Release that was published last week in relation to the Commonwealth Youth Games Team.
The press Release implies that the Swimming Team is finalised and that the four names mentioned are the final list. This is not the case and is an error on my part. The Press Release is a FIOGA Press Release and it is up to the Swimming Club and its committee to decide who will attend the games.
FIOGA have made the decision to take Roxane Morrison on the trip and her place in the CYG team is the only finalised place.
On behalf of FIOGA I would like to apologise for this mistake.

2004 WINTER SHOTGUN SEASON
The very first Clay Pigeon Winter Season took off this weekend under what can only be described as ‘Heavy” Conditions! Alongside a number of military R&R shooters 5 hardy souls battled it out for the first Sporting Round. Newcomers to the club Mick Smith and Darren Jones both held their own with Mick coming out in the top three. Last Season’s second place shooter John Clark came out on top this week with a massive 26 only dropping birds in the final rounds, something to do with the sleet squalls? Steve Dent scored a very disappointing 4th unable to continue with last season’s successes.
Scores for the week;
| | Week 1 | |
| | Sporting | |
| Name | 30 | % |
| John Clark | 26 | 87% |
| Graham Didlick | 25 | 83% |
| Mick Smith | 20 | 67% |
| Steve Dent | 17 | 57% |
| Darren Adams | 15 | 50% |
Obviously the table is the same for this first Round. Next shoot is on the 23rd May at 1300 hours – Doubles. It is not too late to come along and join us, all shooters will drop 3 shoots over the season and will be scored on their best 7.
FIBS NEWS DIRECT:
NEW
Patients at KEMH are to be encouraged to complain with a new system for lodging grumbles or suggestions. Director of Health, Norman McGregor-Edwards agreed at today’s Health and Medical Services Committee meeting to draft a complaints form, which would be available at Hospital Reception. The proposal came from lay committee member, Jason Lewis, who said he thought some people found writing a letter of complaint or organising a meeting with managers to be too formal or intimidating. Mr. McGregor-Edwards said the Hospital generally received around 20 complaints a year. He said, “The more complaints we get, the better, not because it means things are going wrong but we have actually been able to make changes in certain areas as a result of complaints. He added, “It’s not something we fear or regret at all. We’d rather that people complained to us than about us.” Mr. McGregor Edwards said he wasn’t happy with the idea of simply providing a form with tick boxes but he agreed to draft something which would give patients a chance to explain more fully the nature of their complaint. Hospital users will still be able to complain through traditional channels if they prefer.
The new Pharmacist will be arriving on Wednesday’s Tri-Star. Martin Fisher’s family will follow him down in due course. In the closed part of the meeting, members discussed the Department budget in response to a paper they received from Standing Finance Committee. Their comments were requested to be passed on to EXCO.
