Accommodation Camp on it's Way to South Georgia

ACCOMMODATION CAMP ON ITS WAY TO SOUTH GEORGIA

By J. Brock (SARTMA)

An accommodation unit is being sent to the South Atlantic Island of South Georgia in order to house a forty man team who are tasked with removing asbestos from the derelict whaling station at Grytviken. The M/V LUMA will arrive with half of the accommodation unit on Sunday night. Subsequently, it will return to Punta Arenas where it will load the second half of the unit for a voyage to Stanley, where both sections will be transhipped to another vessel for transport to South Georgia, probably in the first week of September. Along with the accommodation units the vessel will be carrying related machinery.

AWG(Falklands) will be carrying out the work and it is hoped that the job will be finished in one summer season.
