IT’S ALL CHANGE AT THE WEST STORE
By J. Brock (FINN)
On Friday morning the media got the chance to tour the new addition to the West Store and to grill FIC Director, Mr. Roger Spink, about what the new extension will be used for. The new building has two floors, with the top floor being the new office as well as storage and unpacking. The second floor will also sport a cargo loading bay as well as a freight elevator.
From the present West Store foodhall there are two archways leading into the new extension, which is nearly complete. The new extension gives some 60% extra floor area for the foodhall .
"We plan to finish the work over the weekend and move shelving from one half of the West Store foodhall in here over the course of next week," said Roger Spink, David Castle added that when the shelves go in the new section, the floor covering in the old section will be replaced with matching linoleum. "It will take a few days toward the end of the June, when the ship arrives to put new shelving and Waitrose range of products in the new section," he continued. The range of Waitrose products can be viewed by looking up http://www.waitrose.co.uk/catalogue/.
The whole store will be revamped, with disruption time estimated to be two or three weeks. New chillers and freezers ,improved display shelving as well as new products will complement the new layout. In the meantime, FIC apologise for any inconvenience to shoppers during the re-vamping and restocking.
