AN INTERNET FIRST FROM THE FALKLANDS
By J. Brock (FINN)
When Gail Foley, Social Affairs Correspondent, came to the Falklands to cover the SAMA’82 Pilgrimage, she and her team brought with them a revolutionary system that allows TV footage to be sent to the BBC via the internet.
Using clip-stream software, the first transmission to the UK took place in the small hours of Saturday morning. Since then, the team have sent in excess of 50 stories using the SONY system.
This was a first of a kind transmission and well worth this note. Well done, BBC Wales.
