A parade to celebrate the 88th birthday of her Majesty the Queen has been held at Victory Green in Stanley, Falkland Islands at 1015hrs on Monday, 21 April 2014. The Commander British Forces arrived first, followed by H. E. the Acting governor Mr John Duncan.

After inspecting a joint detachment representing British Forces South Atlantic Islands and the Falkland Islands Defence Force, they positioned themselves on the dais to take the royal Salute. A fly Past was executed by a lone Sea King Helicopter.

The parade formed up and marched towards the Cathedral in preparation for the March past when a 21 Explosion Salute was conducted from the Camber in front of the Protector sign.

Though the day began partly cloudy, a light drizzle began to fall just before the march past. This didnt dampen the enthusiasm of those taking part, especially the Combined Bands of the Lancashire Artillery, Duke of Lancasters and Royal Signals North, who provided the music.

Also attending the parade were the youth organisations consisting of Scouts and Guides and members of the legislative Assembly as well as other Government officials. Also in attendance were several hundred members of the public.

After the parade there was a reception at Government House for the participants as well as invited members of the public. At Government House H.E. the Acting Governor Mr John Duncan gave a loyal toast to Her Majesty.
